I’m Over This War

I’m over this war

That began long ago.

It’s an endless battle

With no real winners.

You strike

I defend.

You play victim

I get the blame.

It’s exhausting

Fighting with you.

How do you do it

With such a big smile?

While I’m consumed

With bitterness and hatred.

I can’t continue this way

It’s too burdensome.

So I let you go.

And now I finally see

The truth you’ve been hiding.

That you’re so unhappy

Insecure and childish.

You take no accountability

And will never change.

It’s humbling you know

To see the truth.

I put down my sword

Hold up my white flag.

Thank you for the lessons

And turn and walk away.
